What it costs to run

At the factory 3,010 W this machine draws about 72.24 kWh a day, or roughly 2,197 kWh a month at 730 running hours. That is about $154 a month at 7¢/kWh hosted power, and about $405 a month at the US average residential rate of 18.44¢/kWh (EIA, May 2026). At 16 August 2026 hashprice the S19 XP covers its own electricity only below roughly 6.1¢/kWh — above that it costs more to run than it mines. Weighing this against a new machine? A new S21 Pro is far more efficient but costs several times the capital, and which one returns your money faster depends entirely on your power rate — the used S19 XP wins below roughly 5.5¢/kWh and loses above it. The $379.99 S19k Pro on the same shelf — and when it is the better machine

We also stock a used Antminer S19k Pro at $379.99: 115 TH/s at 23 J/TH against this machine’s 141 TH/s at 21.35 J/TH. It is the honest alternative to this listing and for most buyers it is the one to take, so here is the comparison rather than a link to find it yourself.

Per dollar, the k Pro is far ahead. It costs $3.30 per TH/s against $4.96 here — about 50% more hashrate for the same money — and this machine’s efficiency advantage over it is only 7%. The arithmetic that settles it needs no Bitcoin price at all: buy the same total hashrate either way and both fleets earn identical revenue, so the whole decision is $1.66 more capital per TH/s here against 1.21 kWh per TH/s per month saved. At 3¢/kWh that premium takes about 46 months to come back; at 5¢/kWh, 28. Inside the band where either machine covers its own electricity at all, the efficiency premium on this machine does not repay quickly.

Two things do buy it back, and both are about your site rather than your spreadsheet. The first is machine positions: this miner and the k Pro each need their own 20 A, 240 V circuit, and this one puts 22.6% more hashrate on it (141 TH/s against 115). If your slot count is fixed — a container, a rented rack, hosting billed per box — that is a real gain, and the 26 TH/s of difference arrives at an effective 14.0 J/TH, which is current-generation efficiency. The second is the halving, roughly 608 days out at block 1,050,000: break-even rates halve with the subsidy, taking the k Pro to about 2.8¢/kWh and this machine to about 3.0¢. If your power sits between those, the halving ends a k Pro fleet and leaves this one earning.

Questions buyers ask about this machine

Will this run on a normal household outlet?

No. This machine needs a dedicated 200–240 V circuit. A North American 120 V household outlet will not run it under any adapter or configuration. At 3,010 W it draws about 12.5 A at 240 V, so the circuit wants a 20 A breaker — continuous loads are sized at 125% under the NEC, and a miner is the textbook continuous load. Size for your actual supply voltage, not ours: the same load on a 208 V feed draws more current, not less. Have an electrician confirm the supply before the pallet arrives.

What will it cost to run?

That depends on your electricity rate, so here is the part we can state exactly: at 3,010 W running 24/7, this machine burns about 2,167 kWh a month. Multiply that by your own all-in rate per kWh — including delivery charges, not just the supply rate — to get your monthly power bill. We do not publish profitability figures, because they change with difficulty and price every day.

How loud is it?

~75 dB — about as loud as a household vacuum cleaner running continuously, and it does not stop. This is a garage, workshop, outbuilding or hosted-facility machine, not something to put in a room where people live or sleep.

What can I mine with it?

It mines Bitcoin (BTC) and other SHA-256 coins. The algorithm is SHA-256, and ASIC silicon is single-purpose: it will mine coins on that algorithm and nothing else, whatever the price of anything else does.

What condition is it in, and what does that grade mean?

This is second-hand stock. We describe it the way we found it: tested working means it ran on our bench at the stated hashrate, refurbished means it was also cleaned, re-pasted or had parts replaced, and as-is means it is sold without a working claim. The grade for this unit is stated in the description above; where a listing states no grade, it says so rather than implying one. Cosmetic wear — dust, scratches, label marks — is normal on hardware that has been mining and is not a fault.

If this has to run in a house, buy the Avalon Q instead

This machine takes 200–240 V only and runs at about 75 dB. There is no adapter that puts it on a North American 120 V outlet, and no power mode that makes it quiet. If your only option is a household circuit or a room near people, the Canaan Avalon Q at $1,999 is the machine that physically installs there — 110–240 V and 45–65 dB.

Is it worth repairing, and does used still win at this price?

On this machine the question is not what a repair costs, it is whether the part exists at all — and that is the honest weakness of the S19 XP as a used buy. The XP is BM1366 silicon, and our parts shelf reflects what the aftermarket actually supplies: for the base S19 we stock a tested-working S19 95 TH/s hashboard at $59.99, tested. For the XP the only board we carry is a 141 TH/s XP-family board sold AS-IS for parts at $24.99, and a BM1366 chip tester at $599.99 for someone doing chip-level work. A donor board and a chip tester are not a repair path, they are a bench project. the parts compatibility guide explains why board revisions inside one family are not interchangeable; the short version is that BM1398, BM1362 and BM1366 machines are different platforms wearing similar lids.

What that means for the purchase. Buy this one tested and buy the condition, not the plan to fix it later — ask us for the metered hashrate, the wall draw and the board revisions in writing before you pay, and see what our grades mean for what our grades commit us to. Fans at $24.99 and an APW9/APW12 power cable at $16.50 still cover the two cheap failures.

What a grade here does not mean

  • A boosted hashrate is not a spec. Where a unit ships on tuned firmware we say so and we give the factory figures too, because overclocking raises power faster than it raises hashrate — a tuned machine is less efficient per terahash than stock, not more.
  • We will not invent a grade to fill a field. If a unit came in without history and has not been through the bench, its listing says that.

How the grade gets decided

A used-hardware seller who will not tell you how they test is asking you to take the grade on trust. Ours is published: the six-step bench procedure every machine goes through, and the five measurements that get recorded — per-board hashrate, chip count, measured wall power rather than the nameplate figure, hardware error rate, and temperature under sustained load. Where you are going to run it

Two questions decide whether a machine like this works where you live, and neither of them is about the miner: can the circuit carry it, and what does your electricity cost? Most full-size machines here want a dedicated 240 V circuit and run at 70–75 dB continuously. A few do not — the Avalon Q publishes 45–65 dB and runs on 110–240 V — so read the voltage and noise figures on this listing rather than assuming. If your power is not genuinely cheap, hosting is the question to be asking instead of which miner to buy. Break-even electricity rate is hashprice divided by (24 × J/TH), and hashrate cancels out of it entirely — which is why a cheap old machine on expensive power loses money faster than an expensive new one does. If hosting is the answer, get written answers on three things before you sign: who pays for repairs, what the uptime commitment actually pays out when it is missed, and how curtailment is handled. A flat per-machine monthly rate is where most of the unpleasant surprises live.
