Description

A 12 kW ASIC water cooling radiator with 15 fans, a brushless circulation pump, a transparent coolant reservoir and intelligent temperature control — the fan speed tracks water temperature automatically instead of you setting it. It is the heat-rejection half of a hydro mining setup: the machine makes hot water, this makes it cold water again. The unit is marked “intelligent temperature control 12 kW” on the front panel and is sold for Antminer, Whatsminer, Avalon, Innosilicon and IceRiver hydro units.

What a 12 kW ASIC water cooling radiator actually covers

12 kW is a heat rejection rating, not a miner count, and the sizing is simpler than it looks: a hydro ASIC turns essentially all of its wall draw into heat, so add up the wattage of the machines you want on the loop and that is the number you have to reject. A current hydro Antminer — the S21 XP Hyd or S21+ Hyd class — is a 5.3 to 5.7 kW machine. So this unit is a two-machine radiator, and it is a two-machine radiator with very little margin. Anyone telling you it will carry three is selling you a hot loop in August.

It is a dry cooler, not a chiller — this is the thing people get wrong

This unit rejects heat into the air around it. It cannot produce coolant colder than the air you put it in, and in practice you should plan on a loop that settles somewhere above ambient, not below it. If it is sitting in a 35 °C room, or in its own exhaust because it is in a small space with nowhere for the hot air to go, you will not hold the water temperature you were hoping for — and the machine will throttle or trip on high water temp long before anything is damaged. Give it outside air, or a room big enough to dump 12 kW into, or duct it. A chiller is a different (and much more expensive) machine with a refrigeration circuit; this is not one.

Noise, and the part that wears out

Fifteen high-static-pressure fans running hard is a loud object — vendors publish figures around 70 dB, and that is credible for this fan count. The intelligent control genuinely helps here, because the fans only ramp when the water is hot, so a lightly loaded winter setup is much quieter than a fully loaded summer one. The fans are also the wear item. They are ordinary DC fans, they are individually replaceable, and losing one out of fifteen is a maintenance job rather than an outage. A bench fan tester makes finding the dead one a 30-second job instead of a guessing game.

Published figures disagree, so here is what we will and will not claim

The 12 kW rating, the 15-fan count, the brushless pump, the transparent reservoir and the automatic temperature control are consistent everywhere we checked and are visible on the unit. Dimensions, net weight, tank volume, flow rate and pump head are not consistent — published weights for this class of radiator run from roughly 13 kg to over 20 kg depending on whose listing you read, and tank volumes are quoted anywhere from about 11 L up. We are not going to reprint a number we cannot stand behind. If a dimension or a weight decides your purchase — freight class, doorway, rack space — ask us and we will physically measure and weigh the unit before it ships.

What you still need

Coolant (distilled water or a proper inhibited coolant), hose, and fittings that match your machine’s quick-disconnects are not assumed to be in the box. Hydro Antminers use specific couplers and the wrong fitting is the most common reason a hydro build stalls on day one, so confirm the connector type on your machine before ordering. Sizing a loop is simpler than it looks, and it is really a running-cost question: a hydro ASIC turns essentially all of its wall draw into heat, so the wattage figures you use to work out a power bill are the same figures you use to work out how much radiator you need. Cost per kilowatt rejected, and why that is the only useful number

Price this against heat, not against miners. $999.99 for 12 kW of rejection is about $83 per kilowatt, and that is the figure to carry into any comparison — a current hydro Antminer of the S21 XP Hyd or S21+ Hyd class is a 5.3 to 5.7 kW machine, so this is a two-machine loop with very little margin, and $83/kW is what a third machine would have to be bought at again.

What it changes about buying used. Hydro hardware is the one place where the cooling decision comes before the machine decision: the loop is a fixed cost you commit to before any miner arrives, it does not scale down if you buy fewer machines, and it is worth nothing to an air-cooled fleet. Size the rejection first and buy the hydro-cooled machines to fit it — the reverse order is how people end up with a radiator that carries two of the three machines they bought. fleet economics works the same problem at farm scale, where the number that matters is the megawatt rather than the machine count.

As-is / for parts	Sold with no working claim at all, at a price that reflects it. Buy these to repair or to harvest. If a listing says as-is, assume it does not hash until you have proved otherwise.
Untested	We have it, we have not powered it, and we are not going to pretend we did. Rarer than as-is and always stated explicitly.

What a grade here does not mean

Cosmetic wear is not a fault. Dust, scratches, scuffed labels and discoloured plastics are normal on hardware that has been earning. We photograph what we have; if the pictures matter to you, ask for more and we will take them.
A grade is not a warranty. Warranty terms are stated per listing, never per store — see the Shipping & buying tab. A tested-working grade describes what the machine did on our bench, not what we owe you in six months.
A boosted hashrate is not a spec. Where a unit ships on tuned firmware we say so and we give the factory figures too, because overclocking raises power faster than it raises hashrate — a tuned machine is less efficient per terahash than stock, not more.
We will not invent a grade to fill a field. If a unit came in without history and has not been through the bench, its listing says that.

How the grade gets decided

A used-hardware seller who will not tell you how they test is asking you to take the grade on trust. Ours is published: the six-step bench procedure every machine goes through, and the five measurements that get recorded — per-board hashrate, chip count, measured wall power rather than the nameplate figure, hardware error rate, and temperature under sustained load. When it reaches you, run the 48-hour acceptance test straight away, while the freight claim window is still open.
