Three things to know before you buy an APW12 10000W immersion PSU
1. It has no fans, and that is not a fault
An immersion PSU is cooled by the fluid it is sitting in, so the fan apertures are empty. The same chassis is also sold in an air-cooled version with three fans fitted, and the manufacturer’s own photography shows the two side by side — which is exactly how people order the wrong one. A fanless immersion unit run in open air will cook itself, quickly. If you are not building a submerged tank, this is the wrong power supply and you want an air-cooled one such as the Alpha Miner APW12 overclocking PSU. Confirm with us which version you are getting before you order — we would rather answer the question than process the return.
2. 10 kW at 220 V is about 45 amps, which is why there are two inlets
This is not a unit you plug into a spare socket. Two AC inlets exist because a single cord and a single circuit cannot legally or safely carry that load, so you need two appropriately rated and separately protected circuits and cordage to match. Work out the electrical side with an electrician before the PSU arrives, not after. The 10,000 W figure is also a headroom rating for overclocking; running a PSU continuously at its nameplate is how you find out what its real lifespan is.
3. It is not a Bitmain product, whatever the model name suggests
We want to be straight about this because the naming is genuinely confusing. Bitmain’s own APW12 is an air-cooled supply in the 3,600 W class. There is no 10 kW immersion APW12 in Bitmain’s catalogue. Units like this one are aftermarket power supplies built in the APW12 form factor by third-party manufacturers for the immersion overclocking market, and they are sold that way by the specialist repair vendors. That does not make it a bad supply — this is a well-established category and immersion overclockers use them — but you are not buying Bitmain silicon, Bitmain QC or a Bitmain warranty, and any listing that implies otherwise is wrong. What a grade here does not mean

- A boosted hashrate is not a spec. Where a unit ships on tuned firmware we say so and we give the factory figures too, because overclocking raises power faster than it raises hashrate — a tuned machine is less efficient per terahash than stock, not more.
- We will not invent a grade to fill a field. If a unit came in without history and has not been through the bench, its listing says that.
How the grade gets decided
A used-hardware seller who will not tell you how they test is asking you to take the grade on trust. Ours is published: the six-step bench procedure every machine goes through, and the five measurements that get recorded — per-board hashrate, chip count, measured wall power rather than the nameplate figure, hardware error rate, and temperature under sustained load. When it reaches you, run the 48-hour acceptance test straight away, while the freight claim window is still open.
