Two machines at opposite ends of Scrypt

The D1 Mini Pre 2.2G is 2.2 GH/s drawing about 500 W, rated 90–260 V AC at up to about 55 dB. The D1 Hydro 30G is about 30 GH/s drawing about 7,600 W, hydro-cooled, on three-phase 380–415 V. Both are rated for 5–45 °C ambient.

That is a fourteen-fold difference in work and a fifteen-fold difference in power, from one maker, with no middle model. Scrypt figures are quoted in J/GH and do not convert to the J/TH of a Bitcoin miner.

The small one is the more efficient one

Work out both from their own stated figures and the result is the opposite of what the sizes suggest. 500 W over 2.2 GH/s is 227 J/GH. 7,600 W over 30 GH/s is 253 J/GH. The little air-cooled box uses about 10% less power per unit of work than the big hydro one.

So hydro cooling here is not buying efficiency. It is buying density and a place to send the heat — 30 GH/s in one chassis instead of fourteen boxes on a bench, and a water loop instead of a wall of hot air. Those are real reasons to want it, and they are the only ones. If someone sells you a hydro machine on the grounds that water makes it more efficient, this shelf is a two-line counter-example. The household outlet is the real argument

Almost no Scrypt machine runs on a North American 120 V circuit. An Antminer L7 or L9 wants 240 V and an electrician; so does the ElphaPex DG1+ range. The D1 Mini Pre accepts 90–260 V AC, and at 500 W it draws roughly 4.2 A at 120 V — comfortably inside an ordinary 15 A circuit, with no new wiring at all.

That is the single reason to choose this machine, and it is a good one. It is not the most efficient Scrypt hardware on the site: against the Antminer L11 20G at 184 J/GH it needs about 24% more power for the same work. How to choose

The D1 Hydro is an infrastructure decision, not a hardware one. Three-phase 380–415 V service and heat rejection have to exist before the machine does anything. If they do not, this is not a machine you can buy at any price, and the D1 Mini is not a smaller version of it — it is a different proposition entirely.

The D1 Mini is the one to buy first. If you have never run a Scrypt miner, 500 W on an outlet you already have lets you learn the pool, the wallet and the payout schedule before you commit to 4 kW of hardware and the circuit to feed it.

Do not read 55 dB as silent. It is about as loud as a busy office and it never stops. That is liveable in a garage or a utility room and wearing in a bedroom. Quieter Scrypt options exist — the ElphaPex DG Home1 and the Goldshell Mini DOGE III both publish 50 dB or less — and both give up efficiency for it.

Check the power figure on the Hydro before you size anything. It is published at about 7,600 W with a ±10% tolerance, which is a range of about 1.5 kW. Ask us and we will read the rating plate off the actual unit.

Who this suits

The D1 Mini Pre suits anyone who wants LTC and DOGE hashrate without rewiring a room — first-time Scrypt miners, people renting, and operators who want a test unit on the bench before a fleet decision. The D1 Hydro suits a site that already has three-phase power and a loop, and wants Scrypt density per rack rather than the lowest J/GH in the catalogue.
