Fifty companies, including Nvidia, Costco and Nike, have now objected to OKXICE tokenized stocks. OKXICE is a joint venture of the exchange OKX and NYSE parent Intercontinental Exchange. The tally comes from its own public notice dated October 30, as reported by CoinDesk. Here is what the plan is, who said no, and why a bitcoin miner should care a little, but not a lot.

What OKXICE tokenized stocks are

OKXICE wants to let eligible investors trade blockchain tokens that represent U.S. stocks, around the clock, paid for in stablecoins. Per Bitcoin Magazine, each token would be backed one-for-one by shares that a third party holds. Trading would run in permissioned pools on the OKX X Layer blockchain. The venture relies on a five-year “Innovation Exemption” the SEC issued on September 17.

The exemption has a catch. When an unaffiliated third party tokenizes a company’s stock, the venue must tell the issuer. The issuer then has 30 days to object in writing. Silence counts as consent, and the window cannot be reopened.

Who has objected to OKXICE tokenized stocks

The count climbed fast: 9 objectors on October 15, 16 on October 19, 38 on October 28 and 50 on October 30. The latest notice added 12 names, including Nvidia, Costco, Nike, Micron, CrowdStrike, Reddit and Hewlett Packard Enterprise. U.Today also lists JPMorgan Chase, Goldman Sachs, Walmart and Coca-Cola among the objectors. One public bitcoin miner is on the list: IREN, according to CoinDesk.

Of the 62 companies OKXICE first picked, CoinDesk counts 43, about 69%, as objectors. That is a different number from the headline 50, because seven objectors were not in the original list. Apple, Amazon, Tesla, Coinbase and Strategy have no disclosed objection yet. However, silence does not mean they back the venue.

What is not known

The companies have not explained their reasons. JPMorgan told CoinDesk it is encouraged by the technology but wants to be thoughtful about how its shares are represented and traded. The first 30-day windows close around November 3, and venues have up to five business days to publish objections. So the list can still grow after the deadline.

There is also a turf fight. Bitcoin Magazine reports that Nasdaq says these venues could fragment liquidity. It is building its own token with Kraken, targeted for the second quarter of 2027. A Nasdaq-listed executive told Crypto in America that a Nasdaq representative urged the company to object. Nasdaq declined to comment on that claim. OKXICE co-chair Andrew Cuomo called the objections a natural response and said the market is at the very beginning of a different structure.

What it means for miners

Not much, directly. This is a fight over stock market plumbing, and it does not touch hashrate or block rewards. It does show how hard Wall Street is pushing back on crypto-style trading, while bitcoin sits near $76,862. Stablecoin demand is the one link: more tokenized trading would mean more dollar-coin use.

Miner math: what hashprice pays today

Here is the live maths on November 2. Bitcoin is $76,862 and the network is 1040 EH/s, so hashprice is about $33.48 per petahash per day. That is what one PH/s of hashing earns before power.

Machine 5c/kWh 8c/kWh 12c/kWh Break-even
Antminer S19 (95 TH/s, 3250 W) -$0.72 -$3.06 -$6.18 4.1c
Antminer S19k Pro (115 TH/s, 2645 W) $0.68 -$1.23 -$3.77 6.1c
Antminer S19 XP (141 TH/s, 3010 W) $1.11 -$1.06 -$3.95 6.5c
Antminer S21 Pro (234 TH/s, 3510 W) $3.62 $1.09 -$2.28 9.3c

Numbers are profit per day after electricity, at the three power prices shown. Break-even is the most you can pay per kilowatt-hour before the machine loses money. Specs are the manufacturer ratings; network data comes from mempool.space. Try your own power price in our free bitcoin mining profit calculator. The stock-token fight does not move hashprice. For scale, if bitcoin slipped 5%: the break-even power price on an S19k Pro falls from 6.1 to 5.8 cents per kilowatt-hour. At 8 cents, daily profit goes from -$1.23 to -$1.42.

We would watch the November 3 deadline and then the SEC. If the objectors hold, the venue launches with far fewer stocks than planned.
